Change is often uncomfortable and unwanted, but it's often for the better. So change we must. To grow the market into something bigger than the sum of its parts, to stick a proverbial pushpin into the marketing map of the Midwest. To be the kind of organization that truly serves the needs of the advertising community in central Indiana.

By the way, "advertising community" doesn't include just advertising agencies. Graphic designers, film production companies, media channels, prepress service providers and even printers have all seen their business dwindle and in some cases evaporate all together. Yes, the recession is partly to blame but the last two years have also seen millions of marketing dollars leave the market.

Have we been too busy fighting each other to see trends that are threatening all of us?

The club we are asking you to join today is not the ad club of 1985, as much fun as thoses days were. AdClub Indianapolis is remaking itself as a service organization with a mission: To be a vigorous advocate for the agencies and related professions in our community. We believe that intelligent, effective and well-crafted advertising, regardless of medium, is the only kind worth doing. And the only kind that will help protect and grow or market.

If you feel the same, stick with us for the next 12 months. You may not agree with every new initiative, or the viewpoints of every speaker, or every choice made by the judges in next years's Brass Rings. But we promise to engage your mind, inspire the troops, and do our part to promote talent and creativity to be found right here at home. If we fail to do anything less, we don't deserve your dues.
